Youth Mass
The TY’s along with their CD teacher Ms McGuinness are busy preparing for the upcoming youth mass that will take place on the 12th December in the St. Mel’s Cathedral. We hope there will be a good turn out from the school.

AIB School Bank
The school bank was launched on the 4th December. It was a great success with lots of our pupils opening accounts. There's still plenty of time to open an account. It is a great way to save for the school tours. You could also get free credit for your phone! The bank opens again on Thursday 17th December. A big thank you must go to Amanda Samuels, Derina Molloy, and Rosanna Halligan for training the lads.

Rugby
St. Mel’s senior team beat Rathoath by 46 points to nil. It was a good performance especially from those players who don’t play regularly. The stand out was Dessie Farrell with his two tries. Also with tries were Michael Farrell, Kevin Rodgers, Finbar McGowan, Joe McGowan and Aaron Wykes.

GAA
The under 14 team took on Athlone Community College on the 1st December in St. Brigid’s Kiltoom. The panel returned to winning ways yesterday with an emphatic victory over Athlone Community College. The recent spell of poor weather had delayed the game but the pitch in Kiltoom was in perfect condition making it ideal for an open running game. Mel's played against the wind and the fall of the pitch in the first half and with some determined play were well ahead at half time. The second half proved to be a complete route with Mel's finding a balance and a rhythm that had been missing in their games to date. Ten of the starting players scored from play and the subs also made a telling impact when they entered the fray. All in all, it was a mighty display all round and sets us up well to have a crack at Marist in the final game in this series. We owe them one! Final Score St. Mel’s 12-13 Athlone CC 3-6

Basketball
Good Luck to the U16 basketball team in there final today. We’ll report the score next week.
